This area of 1,800 sq km National Reserve spreads southwest of Nairobi, along the Tanzanian Border and the Serengeti National Park. The Mara River and its tributary the Talek water the landscape of gently rolling grassy hills. Masai Mara has the highest concentration of game in Kenya and the largest lion population, including the black-manned lion. The Mara River is teeming with hippos, huge crocodiles and oversized catfish. It is the theatre of the "Greatest Animal Show on Earth", the great migration.
