Highlights & Description: Experience Kenya through a series of Lectures and field trips on this Educational Cultural Study Tour
Program.
The students will explore the interplay of Traditional tribal-village cultures and contemporary cultures in the cities. The relations in tourism, ecology, politics, democracy, History, Geography, Health and economic development will be examined during the study tour. Emphasis will be placed on the role of intercultural communication in societies in transition. Field trips are planned to go along with the covered material during the seminars and lectures. The program fee covers tuition, full board accommodation, all excursions, ground transport in Kenya. The program is designed for Universities, Colleges and professionals.

Day 1 Nairobi Program briefing and visit the Kenya National Museum and the Bomas of Kenya in the afternoon.

Day 2 Nairobi-Morning:Seminar: History of Kenya.
Mid-Morning: Introduction to Ki-swahili .
Afternoon: City tour including the Railway museum, city market, National Museums and Snake Park.
Evening: Seminar: Kenya People and cultures

Day 3 Nairobi-Morning: Seminar: Development/Environment/social cultural Issues in Kenya
Mid-Morning: Seminar on Kiswahili
Afternoon: Visit a Children's home.
Evening: Seminar: Development Issues in Kenya

Day 4 Nairobi-Morning: Seminar: Development/Social cultural issues in Kenya

Day 5 Nairobi-Morning: Seminar on Wildlife conservation (History and current issues) in Kenya
Mid/ Afternoon: Environment /Development tour : Including forests around Nairobi, Nairobi National Park,
Evening: Seminar, Tourism and Environment /Development/ Social cultural impact in Kenya.

Day 6 Mount Kenya region-Depart for Mt. Kenya region and visit the Mau Mau caves in the Mt. Kenya forest and have a seminar on Kenya's struggle for independence and the Kikuyu traditional culture. Visit a farmer's society and study the farmers' cooperative movement in Kenya.

Day 7 Mount Kenya region-Depart for Aberdares regions and witness population pressures on conservation areas and the conflicting land use practices in the region. Game drive in the Sweetwaters game ranch and a visit to the chimpanzee sanctuary.

Day 8 Lake Nakuru-Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Seminar on the Lake's ecosystem and the impact of proximity to Nakuru town. Lake Nakuru is world renowned for hosting a third of the world's population lesser flamingo.

Day 9 Lake Naivasha-Depart for Lake Naivasha with a Visit to Kariandusi pre-historic site en-route. Seminar on the ecological evolution of lake Naivasha and the effect of human activity around the Lake. Afternoon trip around the lake to view horticulture and flower farms and the water Salvinia molesta weed problem around Lake Naivasha.

Day 10 Maasai Mara-Proceed to Maasai Mara game reserve with game viewing en-route. This is Kenya's most popular park for its large herds of lions and the legendary annual wildebeest migration.

Day 11&12 Maasai Mara-Two days of game viewing Studying the Group ranches wildlife conservation concept, Cultural transformations, Land use changes and conservation pressures and Visit a cultural village.

Day 13 Nairobi-Return to Nairobi for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 14 Tsavo-Drive to the Tsavo National park, famous for the infamous "Man eaters of Tsavo", Man eating lions encountered during the construction of the Uganda railway. Seminar on the conservation human /animal conflict and elephant conservation policy, potential and challenges in Kenya.

Day 15 Tsavo-
Full Day of game viewing in this enormous park covering more than 7720 square miles.

Day 16 Mombasa Beach-Travel to Mombasa with afternoon at leisure. Evening seminar on History of Kenyan Coast, people and culture.

Day 17 & 18 & 19 & 20 Mombasa Beach-Four full day to explore the coastal town of Mombasa and have fun on the Indian Ocean beaches with seminars on Kenyan coast development and conservation issues. Visit Fort Jesus, Mombasa Old town, Gede Ruins and Mamba Village Botanical Garden - North Coast of Mombasa Study mangrove forest conservation projects and Coral Gardens. Other sites to be visited include: Bamburi [Haller] Nature Park. Arabuko Sokoke Rain Forest. Kipepeo Butterfly Project - Kilifi. Turtle Conservation at the coast along the beaches. Columbus Trust for conservation of the Columbus monkey based in Diani south coast

Day 20-Night train to Nairobi.
Day 21 Nairobi-Program debriefing and afternoon last minute shopping and site visits. Farewell dinner at the Carnivore restaurant.

DAY 1 NAIROBI-Arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the evening. Met by our safari representative and transferred to your hotel for overnight. Bed and breakfast.

DAY 2 NAIROBI-Breakfast at the hotel. After lunch, see the City Market, the Parliament, the Karen Blixen Museum, and Kazuri beads industry. Dinner is taken and overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 & 4 AMBOSELI-After breakfast, we drive South through Masailand to Amboseli National Park arriving at Amboseli Camp in time for lunch. We spend TWO DAYS at the foothills of majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro (19,352 ft.) In our early morning and evening game drives we are sure to encounter large herds of Elephant, Buffalo, Zebra, Wildebeest, Gazelles, Impala, and, weather permitting, the glistening peak of snow covered Mt. Kilimanjaro. All meals and overnights at Amboseli Camp.

DAYS 5 & 6 MASAI MARA-Breakfast at the camp. We drive North to Nairobi arriving in time for lunch. After lunch we transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve. We spend THREE fabulous DAYS in this Northern extension of the famous Serengeti plains. The park boasts large herds of Wildebeest, Elephant, Zebra, Rhino, Cheetah, Leopard, and numerous plains animals. Morning and afternoon game drives. Dinner all meals at the Camp.

DAY 7 LAKE NAKURU-After breakfast drive, we drive through the scenic forests and the wheat fields of the Mau Narok Plateau and the Great Rift Valley and arrive in time for lunch at camp in Lake Nakuru National Park and afternoon game viewing drive. There are over 250 species birds and so many Flamingos that the lake looks pink. This highly fertile park is home to many plains animals, including Rhino, Leopard and Rothchilds Giraffe. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

DAY 8 TREEHOTEL-After breakfast we drive north through the scenic Rift Valley escarpment and Thompson Falls to Abedare Country Club arriving in time for lunch. After lunch we drive to Treehotel, built high among the trees and overlooking a water hole where forest animals gather to lick the salt and drink from the water hole. Dinner and an overnight of game viewing at the Treehotel.

DAYS 9 & 10 SAMBURU-After breakfast drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve arriving there in time for lunch. We spend TWO exciting DAYS viewing Samburu's typically "Northern" game: Somali Ostrich, Grevy Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Long-necked Gerenuk, Oryx and their predators - Lion, Cheetah, and Leopard. Morning and afternoon game drives. All meals and overnight at the camp.

DAY 11 SWEETWATERS TENTED CAMP-Breakfast and depart for luxurious Sweetwaters Tented Camp arriving for lunch. This exclusive camp is located on the private 110,000 acre Ranch known as Ol Pejeta. It is home to a diverse range of plains animals, including Elephants, Rhino, Giant Forest Hog, Waterbuck, Suni, Dik Dik, Reedbuck, Bushbuck, Eland, Lion, Leopard, and the shy Bongo. Afternoon game drive and visit to Jane Goodall's Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where orphaned and abandoned chimps are rehabilitated and taught to fend for themselves in an area resembling their natural habitats. Meals and overnight at Sweetwaters camp.

DAY 12 NAIROBI-After breakfast, we drive southward through lush tea and coffee plantations in the heart of Kikuyuland to Nairobi, arriving there in time for lunch. After lunch, we shall visit the National Museum of Kenya and, hopefully, we shall do the last minute shopping and prepare for your flight home. In the evening, we have a farewell dinner provided by our host family in Kenya. After dinner we transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for homebound flight.
