7 Days - Birding Kampala
and environs PLUS Lake Mburo National Park. Given
the small size of the country, approximately 235,000 kilometers squared, Uganda
boasts a national bird list of over 1008 species. This represents more than half
the bird species that can be found in the whole of Africa.

Arrive in Nairobi and take a flight to Kampala and back or you are transfered
to Kampala by Road.
Day 1 Morning visit The Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC) home to
captive animals with over 170 species of wild birds, 10 species of Weavers and
many more species including captive animals. Proceed to Botanical gardens for
another birding experience. Have lunch relax and visit the sewage lagoons in the
evening.
Return to Hotel/Camp
for Dinner and Overnight.
Day 2 Early breakfast and transfer to the Heritage trail a 10 minutes
drive from the Airport for more birding and proceed to Lutembe Beach for lunch.
After lunch, take on a boat in search for the papyrus canary, ther thousands of
Grey Headed Gulls and continue birding in the evening. Return to Hotel/Camp
for Dinner and Overnight Day 3 Have an early breakfast and proceed
to Mabamba swamps another Important Bird Area (IBA) with a population of about
5 Shoebills. Here most of the birding is done canoeing and other species to be
seen may include African water Rail, long Toed Plover, Squacco Heron, Goliath,
Purple, Grey and Black Headed Herons, etc Sitatunga Antelope (swamp Antelope)
and many more. Enroute to Kampala stop by another swamp for more bird watching,
have a packed lunch and continue birding in the evening. Dinner and Overnight
in Kampala. Day 4 Early breakfast and transfer to Mabira forest
for mostly forest birding about an hours drive from Kampala. Species such as Toro
Greenbul, Yellow whiskered Greenbul, and many more fascinating species. Have a
picnic lunch and continue birding in the evening. Return to Kampala for Dinner
and Overnight. Day 5 An early breakfast and transfer to Lake Mburo
National park. A park situated 4 hours drive from Kampala. It is situated in Western
Uganda. Stopover at the equator, proceed to Lake Mburo, birding to the entrance
of Nshara gate. . Have lunch at Rwonyo Restaurant. After lunch, embark on late
afternoon game drive along the Zebra Track where you may see nocturnal species.
Return Hotel/Camp for Dinner and Overnight. Day 6 Have an
early morning Breakfast, embark on a nature walk encountering several species
of wetland and savanna species of birds, Impalas, e.t.c. return to lunch, after
lunch, have an evening Game drive along the Kigambira loop. Return to Hotel/Camp
for Dinner and overnight. Day 7 Before Breakfast we go for an
early game drive along the Lakeside Track. This allows access to Aquatic habitats
around Lake Mburo. Have breakfast and proceed on a boat launch in such for papyrus
species missed, Hippos, Crocodiles are the extras expected. Drive out for Kampala
stopping Briefly in Masaka town for Lunch. Proceed to Kampala.
